Wonwell Class (KS1)

Welcome to Wonwell class!

We have a mix of Year One and Year Two children who love to learn and work alongside each other brilliantly.  Our teachers are Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs Rundle. Mrs Janes and Mrs Ronnie are our teaching assistants. We like to bring learning to life by using our amazing outdoor environment as much as possible. We learn through half termly topics which means that our learning is always placed within a meaningful context.

This half term our topic is called 'Moon Zoom', perfectly linked to tie in with the celebration of 50 years since the first man on the moon! We cannot wait to get started and 'launch' the children's learning.

Please click on the link below for our topic maps. You will find information about our long term planning under 'Curriculum' in the 'Parents' tab at the top of the screen. You will also find our weekly timetable below, although this is sometimes adapted.

Please view our gallery of pictures which shows the huge range of learning that we have been enjoying. click here

            PE - W.ednesday and Thursday

Homework - Each half term a planner is sent out, whereby the children can choose what they would like to do each week. Homework should be handed in on a Wednesday to be shared with the class.

Spellings  - issued and tested on a Friday

Outdoor Learning Days : We alternate between Forest School or Beach School and eco-warriors every Monday. Much of the learning we do in School also takes places outside in our beautiful grounds.

Phonics - we teach daily phonics using the LCP phonics programme, which is based on the DfE Letters and Sounds programme.

Reading- our reading scheme uses a wide range of books from different publishers, with most books selected from Oxford Reading Tree, Rigby Star and Read, Write Inc.

If you ever have any spare time and would like to join us in school to help with reading or topic activities, please do speak to one of us.

Please see below for our timetable and topic information.
