Wonwell Class (F/KS1)
Welcome to the Spring term 2019.
Our happy class is a lively mix of Foundation, Year One and Year Two children. Our teachers are Mrs. Rundle and Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Ronnie, Mrs Williams and Mrs Janes are our Teaching Assistants. This term, we also welcome Mr. Bradley who will be continuing his teacher training with us over the Spring Term.
We are always busy learning, even if what we do looks like too much fun. Please view our gallery of pictures which shows the huge range of learning that we have been enjoying. Please click here. Like all schools, we place a huge emphasis on learning English, maths and science. However, we like to bring our learning to life by using our amazing outdoor environment as much as possible. We also learn through half termly topics which means that our learning is always placed within a meaningful context and is less fragmented for us. This half term our topic is called 'Heroes and Villains' and we'll be looking at these characters in traditional stories as well as modern day animations. Please click on the link below for our topic maps. You will find information about our long term planning under 'Curriculum' in the 'Parents' tab at the top of the screen. You will also find our weekly timetable below, although this is sometimes adapted.
Note: PE - Wednesday and Friday
Homework - issued on a Friday and returned by the following Wednesday.
Spellings - issued and tested on a Monday
Outdoor Learning Days : every Monday with Forest School every fortnight (please see calendar)
Phonics - we teach daily phonics using the LCP phonics programme, which is based on the DfE Letters and Sounds programme.
Reading- our reading scheme uses a wide range of books from different publishers, with most books selected from Oxford Reading Tree, Rigby Star and Read, Write Inc.
We are always delighted to host any volunteers in our classroom who would like to help with reading or any other learning. We would particularly enjoy hearing from you if you have any life experience or skills that you would like to share with the children.
