Wonwell Class (F/KS1)
Welcome to the Summer term 2019.
Our happy class is a mix of Foundation, Year One and Year Two children. Our teachers are Mrs. Rundle and Mrs. Mitchell. Mrs. Ronnie, Miss Williams, Mrs Janes and Miss Farleigh are our Teaching Assistants.
Please view our gallery of pictures which shows the huge range of learning that we have been enjoying. click here.
Like all schools, we place a huge emphasis on learning English, Maths and Science. However, we like to bring our learning to life by using our amazing outdoor environment as much as possible. We learn through half termly topics which means that our learning is always placed within a meaningful context.
This half term our topic is called 'Holidays'. Please click on the link below for our topic maps. You will find information about our long term planning under 'Curriculum' in the 'Parents' tab at the top of the screen. You will also find our weekly timetable below, although this is sometimes adapted.
Note: PE - Wednesday and Friday
Homework - Each half term a planner is sent out, whereby the children can choose what they would like to do each week. Homework should be handed in on a Wednesday to be shared with the class.
Spellings - issued and tested on a Friday
Outdoor Learning Days : every Monday with Forest School or Beach School every fortnight (please see calendar)
Phonics - we teach daily phonics using the LCP phonics programme, which is based on the DfE Letters and Sounds programme.
Reading- our reading scheme uses a wide range of books from different publishers, with most books selected from Oxford Reading Tree, Rigby Star and Read, Write Inc.
We are always delighted to host any volunteers in our classroom who would like to help with reading or any other learning. We would particularly enjoy hearing from you if you have any life experience or skills that you would like to share with the children.
