Stoke Class (Foundation and Nursery)
Hello and welcome to Stoke Class, our new Foundation Unit.
We accept children from the age of 2 years, right up until the end of the Foundation Stage (5 years old). Our teacher is Miss Campbell and Mrs Rundle teaches Reception on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings. Our Teaching Assistants are Miss Williams and Mrs Janes.
As well as our lovely classroom, we have the use of our own outdoor play area, just for foundation children, and we can also access other areas of the school grounds. We also make good use of our beautiful local surroundings, as on a Tuesday mornings we walk to the woods for Forest School, and on a Friday morning we visit Mothecombe Beach for beach school.
We are currently concentrating on learning all our new routines and settling into our new surroundings. The curriculum we work from is called Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). If you would like to know more about this, then you can find a parent friendly version at: https://www.foundationyears.org.uk/files/2015/03/4Children_ParentsGuide_2015_WEB.pdf
Our topic this half term is Why do squirrels hide their nuts?
Phonics – We teach daily phonics using the LCP phonics programme, which is based on the DfE Letters and Sounds programme.
Leap for Life - this is a PE scheme for young children, which we are doing every day (except for Fridays).
If you ever have any spare time and would like to join us in school to help with reading or become a parent helper for our outdoor sessions, then please come and talk to us.
