Mothecombe Class (KS2)
Welcome to Mothecombe class’ home page!
This term, we are learning all about 'Blue Abyss'.
"The Sea is a hungry dog,
Giant and grey.
He rolls on the beach all day.
With his clashing teeth and shaggy jaws,
Hour upon hour he gnaws
The rumbling, tumbling stones,
And 'Bones, bones, bones, bones!
The giant sea-dog moans,
Licking his greasy paws."
- The Sea, James Reeves

We’re going deep into an underwater world of incredible coral and mysterious sea creatures. Head to your local aquarium and learn about life in the ocean. Can you pick a favourite fish, plant or animal? What do real divers get up to below the surface? Create a fishy story about exploring an amazing underwater world.
Time to go a little deeper into our seas. Make a model deep-sea submarine that can withstand great pressure and travel to the deepest, darkest places on Earth. Make sure you test it first!
What are those bright lights in the distance? It’s a group of bioluminescent sea creatures! Look closely and create a colourful, 3-D art exhibition when you rise to the surface.
Let’s head into the Blue Abyss.
Our teacher is Mr Armley-Jones. In KS2 our learning is never tied to a particular environment. You’ll catch us taking advantage of our beautiful surroundings in forest school, writing instructional texts about our collages in the classroom, taking part in capture the flag at the field or learning how to code and design games in computing.
Homework – Homework will be handed out with a set of spellings on a Friday and due back in on a Wednesday.
Uniform - Please make sure that all school uniform and PE kit is clearly labelled as it helps the children to identify their own belongings. Please remind your child to bring a coat every day in the winter months and also please encourage your child to bring a named water bottle to school every day.
We are always looking for help in and around the classroom (PE, Art, reading, swimming) so please get in touch if you can lend a helping hand.
