Mothecombe Class (KS2)
Welcome to Mothecombe class’ home page!
Below, you will find out what our enthusiastic KS2 class have been up to so far this year, as well as what exciting opportunities and events we have coming up.
In KS2 our learning is never tied to a particular environment. You’ll catch us taking advantage of our beautiful surroundings in forest school, writing instructional texts about our collages in the classroom, taking part in capture the flag at the field or learning how to code and design games in computing.
This term, our topic is 'Brazil and the rainforest'. We're going to be learning about how life in South America compares and contrasts to ours in the UK. As well as this, we will be writing holiday brochures for our twinned school, Bodilis, and letters warning about the dangers of deforestation and how it affects us.
Starting with our letter writing unit, you can follow our writing and see great examples of our work each day! This can be really helpful if your child misses a day of school.
This term, our topic is 'Ancient Greece'. This will be an exciting welcome back as we'll be learning about Ancient Greek art, democracy and literature. We'll also be designing and creating our own Greek vases! In English, as a class, we're reading the book 'Cosmic' By Frank Cottrell Boyce. We'll be writing two short stories inspired by this book and then moving on to some performance poetry.
Homework – Homework will be handed out with a set of spellings on a Friday and due back in on a Wednesday.
Uniform - Please make sure that all school uniform and PE kit is clearly labelled as it helps the children to identify their own belongings. Please remind your child to bring a coat every day in the winter months and also please encourage your child to bring a named water bottle to school every day.
We are always looking for help in and around the classroom (PE, Art, reading, swimming) so please get in touch if you can lend a helping hand.
