Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Holbeton Primary School, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child is valued, supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential. We work in close partnership with parents and carers, outside agencies and the Local Authority to ensure that children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive the right support at the right time.

We believe that every teacher is a teacher of children with SEND. Through high-quality first teaching, Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision, and targeted or specialist support where required, we ensure that all pupils can access a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum. Our provision follows the graduated approach of Assess, Plan, Do, Review, enabling us to identify needs early and respond effectively to support each child's individual strengths and barriers to learning.

It also explains how teaching, learning and the curriculum are adapted to ensure that all children are fully included and able to thrive.

We work collaboratively with a range of specialist professionals, including educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, advisory teachers and health professionals, to ensure that pupils receive the support they need to succeed both academically and socially.
