Religion and Worldviews
Religion and Worldviews at Holbeton Primary School
At Holbeton Primary School, our Religion and Worldviews curriculum nurtures curiosity, respect, and understanding of the diverse beliefs and values that shape our world.
In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), children begin to explore ideas of belonging, special times, and the world around them through stories, celebrations, and hands-on experiences that build a foundation for understanding different beliefs and traditions.
In Key Stage 1, our teaching follows the Devon Agreed Syllabus, which introduces children to key beliefs, practices, and celebrations across a range of world faiths and encourages them to think about their own values and experiences.
As pupils move into Key Stage 2, they follow the Opening Worlds programme. This provides a rich, knowledge-based curriculum that deepens their understanding of global religions, worldviews, and moral questions, helping them to make connections across history, geography, and PSHE.
Across the school, our aim is for children to develop a secure understanding that we live in a diverse, multi-faith society, and to value the importance of empathy, tolerance, and respect in our community and beyond.
