Welcome to Mothecombe class!  

We have a mixture of Year three and Year four children who love to learn and work alongside each other kindly and enthusiastically. We like to bring learning to life by exploring various topics throughout the year, which means that our learning is always placed within a meaningful context. 

Our topics this term are: 

Spring term 2 

Persia and Greece (History)

Agriculture (Geography)

Plants (Science) 

Other details about our class: 

Forest Schools – this is taught every week on a Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure children come to school already in their forest school clothes. It is alternating weeks for year 3 and 4. 

P. E –Friday is our main PE day. Please ensure children come to school already dressed in a P.E kit. 

Homework – Homework is given out on a Friday. Homework consists of spellings, reading and times tables.

Children are encouraged to use TTRockstars to enhance their learning of the multiplication facts in order to prepare them for their mathematical journey through school.

Children must read for at least 20 minutes a day to ensure fluency, comprehension and reading stamina is built within them. 

Reading - We promote a love for reading and encourage your child to read a variety of reading materials. Children can choose books within their ZPD level and once read, quiz on the renaissance reader platform in school. Every term the class takes a star reader assessment, based on a set of comprehension questions. This will then generate a new ZPD score.
