We believe every child should feel safe, happy and understood. We achieve this by providing a caring environment and future for each individual by ensuring we know each child and adapt our provision to include them. It is our belief that a child who feels valued and secure will flourish both academically and socially. We provide experience through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) where each child will discover their particular strengths and talents.
Beyond our pre-school and garden we take full advantage of our exceptional surroundings with regular visits to the park and walks around the village. We have Forest School every Friday in our local woodland and Beach School every Monday on Mothecombe Beach.
We seek to nurture each child as an individual, building the vital moral foundation and interpersonal skills to become a valued and useful member of society. In our cosy family feel pre-school, we seek to nurture positive attitudes to work and a sense of responsibility and consideration of others.
Our Pre school follows the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage which shapes the children’s learning and development. You may find this guide useful for outlining your child’s development through the early years. See our early years guidance link.
We received a ‘good’ rating following our most recent Ofsted inspection.

We are pleased to be able to offer Beach school on a Monday morning and Forest school on a Friday morning. The remainder of our sessions are held in the ‘Green Room’ at Holbeton village hall.
Children three years and above are welcome to use the breakfast and after school club that is provided by Holbeton primary school. We operate a walking bus policy to ensure the children are safely escorted between school and pre school.
Fees and Funding
A three hour session is £12 or a full day is £26, hourly rate of £4 per hour. This includes milk, morning snack for beach and forest school and for all the afternoon sessions a healthy snack.
For more information on funding for pre-school children further details can be obtained from pre school staff or via the Devon county council website. Some children are also entitled to funding from 2 years old.
On registering your child you will be asked to complete a registration form, booking form and complete our parental consent forms.
On starting pre-school your child will be allocated a key worker, this is to ensure your child’s care is tailored to meet their individual needs and provide them with a familiar face for settling in. We encourage parents to participate in their child’s learning and development and use tapestry to help us record and share this with you. We encourage you to share with us exciting progress & developments from home through this approach.
We operate a healthy eating policy and we encourage our families to share this ethos. We ask that all children are provided with a healthy snack or lunch for the morning session and or lunch. Milk & water are freely available throughout the day.
We provide all parents with a fortnightly online/email newsletter to keep you up to date with activities and progress and help facilitate our information sharing. Parents are encouraged to approach us to discuss any concerns and we support an open and honest relationship between staff and parents.
As our pre school is managed by a voluntary committee we actively encourage our parents to become involved in our fundraising events and parent committee.
