Mothecombe Class (KS2)
Welcome to Mothecombe class’ home page!
Below you will find out what our enthusiastic KS2 class have been up to so far this year, as well as what exciting opportunities and events we have coming up.
In KS2 our learning is never tied to a particular environment. You’ll catch us taking advantage of our beautiful surroundings in forest school, writing instructional texts about our collages in the classroom, taking part in capture the flag at the field or learning how to code and design games in ICT.
In the autumn term our new topic will be the ancient Egyptians! This will involve us looking in depth at their way of life as well as their beliefs and values. In science our focus will be light. We will endeavor to find out the reasons behind how it travels and as a result why this means we can see. Our first piece of English writing will be a narrative text inspired by the enthralling tale 'The Whistling Monster' by Jamila Gavin.
Homework – Homework will be handed out with a set of spellings on a Friday and due back in on a Wednesday.
Uniform - Please make sure that all school uniform and PE kit is clearly labelled as it helps the children to identify their own belongings. Please remind your child to bring a coat every day in the winter months and also please encourage your child to bring a named water bottle to school every day.
SATs - This year, the SATs will commence the week beginning the 14th May 2017.
