Mothecombe Class (KS2)
Welcome to Mothecombe class’ home page!
Below you will find out what our enthusiastic KS2 class have been up to so far this year, as well as what exciting opportunities and events we have coming up.
In KS2 our learning is never tied to a particular environment. You’ll catch us taking advantage of our beautiful surroundings in forest school, writing instructional texts about our collages in the classroom, taking part in capture the flag at the field or learning how to code and design games in ICT.
In the spring term much of KS2’s learning centred around The Tudors. We wrote a diary from the perspective of a Tudor child and learnt about how different life was during this period of British history. Following this KS2 were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit Flete house during this half term (a location not often available to the public) due to close links with one of our governors, Anne Mildmay-White. We witnessed Tudor architecture and some truly remarkable Tudor artefacts and portraits. This inspired KS2 to create their own portraits, have a look at these below.
Homework – Homework will be handed out with a set of spellings on a Wednesday and due back in on a Monday.
Uniform - Please make sure that all school uniform and PE kit is clearly labelled as it helps the children to identify their own belongings. Please remind your child to bring a coat every day in the winter months and also please encourage your child to bring a named water bottle to school every day.
SATs - This year, the SATs will commence the week beginning the 8th May 2017.
